Phil Kalin

Phil has served in Chief Executive positions in both public and privately backed companies in the healthcare, technology, and insurance industries.

He is an entrepreneur with successes
ranging from start-ups to growing large companies. He is recognized for his expertise in digital and business transformation. He has extensive experience in advising growing businesses, coaching executive leadership, and strategy development.

Most recently, Phil was the President and Chief Executive Officer of Pinnacol Assurance, the country’s 20th largest worker’s compensation insurer. In this turnaround situation, he pushed Pinnacol’s financial performance to rank in the top 50 of over 3000 national P&C carriers (four years running), saw it named the Top Colorado Workplace for large companies, recognized for its technology innovation and producing industry leading customer satisfaction scores. The company’s current revenue is $525M with over $3B in managed assets.

Early in his career Mr. Kalin spent over 20 years in healthcare leadership roles and has a deep understanding of the healthcare marketplace. He served as President and CEO of Rose Medical Center in Denver, transitioning it from a private non-profit to one of publically held HCA’s best performing hospitals. He also held senior executive positions at the Henry Ford Healthcare system in Detroit and the Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Cleveland.

Following his time leading integrated healthcare systems, Mr. Kalin co-founded and was Chairman/CEO of privately funded CustomMed Solutions, a healthcare technology company
serving the insurance industry. He led the company through a successful exit with a sale to Phycom Corporation.

He also started and was CEO of a healthcare data company which built one of the country’s most comprehensive statewide medical claims databases.

He has been active on private corporate and civic boards as well as engaged nationally in healthcare technology, health policy, and most recently, insurtech.

Phil received his BS in General Science from the University of Iowa and a Masters in Hospital Administration from the University of Michigan.

He has been named as Colorado’s Most Admired CEO by the Denver Business Journal.

He is a proud father/grandfather and a very active road and mountain biker.

Jenna Forster

Jenna has been coaching senior executives in both public and private companies for the past 20 years. She is known as a pioneer in the integration of brain science and executive coaching. Throughout her career, Jenna has coached hundreds of executives to develop and integrate solid communication and leadership strategies supporting the growth of organizations.

Specializing in behavioral leadership, Jenna has spent two decades alongside executives as they shape their internal capacity to lead.  She has successfully coached multimillion dollar organizations in high-growth periods.

With a specialty in leadership and team dynamics, Jenna is pivotal to shifting perspectives and building solutions.  Her ability to see through the surface level dynamics has proven invaluable for leaders.

Jenna has been a key player in training thousands of professionals from 39 countries in leadership skills and has written numerous self-reflective journals to support the woman in developing their capabilities to lead in both their personal and professional lives.

Barbara Brannen

 

                 

Barbara has worked in Human Resources for many years in a variety of positions and with a variety of companies.

Early in her career as the Director of Human Resources for the University of Denver she built out the first employee database for the organization and introduced new benefits and cultural additions that remain in place today. In joining Rose Medical Center as the Vice-President of Human Resources she was faced with a staggering nursing shortage
that was mitigated with creative staffing models and an innovative compensation structure.

Additionally, new programs for employee engagement had a positive impact on recruitment and retention elevating the success of the organization.

At Rose Medical Center Barbara was part of an executive team that created a plan that tripled the revenue of the organization just prior to their acquisition by HCA. At Innovative Services of America, Barbara was part of a major cooperative project between IBM, Sears, and a major Distribution house that grew the company from 200 employees to 2000 in three months. After that project, the company grew by adding clients such as American Express, Levi Strauss, and more. The company was acquired by AON during her tenure. Barbara was the first Vice President of Human Resources for Qwest Communications and helped with the acquisition and integration of six companies in twenty months.

Barbara created her own consulting firm to help companies build the best workplaces and outpace the competition through good people doing good work. Her clients included startups and established companies such as Wildblue Communications, (acquired and integrated into Viasat), Digicomm, Northern Colorado Behavioral Health, Saunders Construction, the Hollywood division of the Humane Society of America, Mark West Energy and many more. Barbara also authored four books and was a
professional speaker during this time.

Seven years ago, Barbara returned to the workplace as the Vice President of Human Resources for Pinnacol Assurance. She led them to win a “Top Workplace” award for five consecutive years. Her inventive ideas when the company went into fully remote for the pandemic, culminated in Pinnacol being named Number One on that list of top
workplaces in 2021 and having one of the highest employee engagement scores in the company’s history.

She has received many accolades for her work including “Outstanding Woman in Business” from the Denver Business Journal and Human Resources Professional of the Year from the Colorado Chapter of the Society of Human Resource Management.

She is currently doing private coaching and consulting.
